Saturn Relay

The Saturn Relay is a minivan from General Motors' Saturn brand that was introduced in 2005. The Relay is built in Doraville, Georgia. The Relay is the first Saturn vehicle without polymer side paneling. Long the choice as the family hauler, Minivans are easily the smartest use of space for passengers and cargo offering a fantastic blend of comfort, convenience, and safety features for the modern family.

The Relay was introduced with a 3.5 L, liter, High Value 3500 LX9 V6 that generates 200 hp, horse power, or 149 kW, kilo watt, and 220 ft-lbf, foot pound force per minute , or 298 N-m, Newton meters per minute, torque, going from 0-60 mph, miles per hour, in 10.2 seconds. A 3.9-liter V6 replaces it for the 2007 model year. The Relay scored three good’s, the highest possible score and two acceptable’s, the second highest possible score, in IIHS, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, crash tests. In terms of gas mileage, the Relay is rated at 19 mpg, miles per gallon, city, and 25 mpg highway.

The Relay starts at 22,850 US dollars. There are three available trim levels, 2FWD, Front Wheel Drive, 3FWD, and 3AWD, All Wheel Drive. All Relays seat seven via folding or removable 2nd row captains chairs and a 50 by 50 3rd row bench. The 3rd row bench folds flat but not entirely into the floor. OnStar assistance and a DVD rear entertainment system are standard for all Relays. A navigation system is optional on Relay 3s.

The 2007 Saturn Relay receives StabiliTrak electronic stability control and a more powerful 240-horsepower 3.9-liter V6 engine with variable valve timing. The Relay 3 is updated with dual-zone manual climate control with individual settings for driver and front passenger.

According to J D Power and Associates Ratings, though the 2006 and 2007 Saturn Relay’s overall, body, interior, feature and accessory quality is below the rest, the performance, creature comforts and style is above average and its mechanical quality and green efficiency better than most. Of all the new GM minivans, the Relay seems to make the most sense and should do well with repeat Saturn owners as well as first-time buyers.

General Motors enjoy an important legacy left by those who went before, a legacy of doing business the right way. Especially in times of increased attention on corporate responsibility, this tradition represents a great asset and but it also carries with it a tremendous responsibility.
