Rolls Royce Phantom
A Rolls-Royce is as much a symbol of luxury, elegance, and wealth as it is a finely crafted automobile. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a BMW, Bavarian Motor Works, subsidiary responsible for the manufacture of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.
The completely new Rolls-Royce car which is over 19 feet long, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has a unique structure that flexes and bends over every road imperfection as the Phantom's structure is an aluminum space frame that is both lighter and stiffer than conventional steel. It gives the Phantom a bending resistance two and a half times greater than that of the old Silver Seraph.
The Phantom is powered by a 6.75-liter, 453 horsepower V12 engine with a 531 pound-feet of torque to produce a 0-to-60 acceleration in 5.7-seconds. 75 percent of which, 413 pound-feet, is available at just 1,000 revolutions-per-minute, and the shift-by-wire six-speed automatic transmission. The all-aluminum engine uses direct injection, dual-overhead cams, four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing, yet no forced induction is required to deliver these horsepower and torque figures. A full array of airbags is standard, along with antilock brakes and stability control.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom is able to offer spacious accommodations front and rear. Although designed to be an easy driver, the rear seats lend themselves well to chauffeured travel. The large three-spoke steering wheel feels light in your hands and the big sedan changes direction with ease, at least when traveling at a relaxed pace. Start kicking things up a bit and it rapidly becomes apparent that the 2005 Rolls-Royce Phantom is no sport sedan.
The Phantom is a large, five-seat ultraluxury sedan. It’s Consumer Rating is 8.8. The Rolls-Royce Phantom includes BMW's iDrive vehicle management system, four-zone climate control and power-closing rear doors. There is only one trim available for 2006 that is the 4-door rear-wheel drive Sedan with automatic transmission offering 12 miles per gallon within the city and 19 on the highway. New standard features in this model year include a power sunroof and a power boot lid.
Sir Henry Royce, whose influence played an important part in the development of the Phantom, once famously said to, strive for perfection in everything you do. Take the best that exists and make it better. When it does not exist, design it. It was a maxim taken to heart by the team behind the new Rolls-Royce Phantom and a guiding thought for all they deliver.
