Jaguar XJ Series
Jaguar Cars Limited is a British luxury car company with headquarters in Browns Lane, Coventry, England. It was founded as SS Cars Ltd in 1922 and changed its name to Jaguar in 1945. The company has been owned by Ford since 1990. Also Jaguar has an engineering division in Whitley, Coventry.
The XJ was launched in 1968 and has served as the Jaguar flagship model for most its production span which continues through today. The Jaguar design team led by Ian Callum has styled the XJ to be longer, taller and wider than its predecessor which results in more room for occupants and luggage alike addressing criticism that interior space on the previous models was not appropriate for a car in this segment.
The 2006 Jaguar XJ-Series is a 4 door, up to 5 passenger luxury sedan, or luxury sports sedan, available in 6 models, ranging from the XJ8 to the Super V8 Portfolio. Upon introduction, the XJ8 is equipped with a standard 4.2 liters, V8, 300 horsepower engine that achieves average 18 in the city and 27 on the highway. The Super V8 Portfolio is equipped with a standard 4.2 liters, V8, 400 horsepower, supercharged engine that achieves average 17 in the city and 24 on the highway. A 6 speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard on both models.
The new Jaguar XJ is out soon and looks aside, it's a major advance include new XJ body is manufactured almost entirely from aluminum. The bodyshell is some 40 percent lighter than that of the equivalent steel body. A 4.2 litre supercharged V8 delivering a massive 400 bhp powers the XJR model, while a naturally aspirated 4.2 litre engine developing 300 bhp sits just below it. A new 3.5-litre V8 makes its debut too.
