Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai is a South Korean group of companies founded by Chung Ju-yung in 1947 as a construction company and was once South Korea's largest corporation company. The company split into five business entities on April 1, 2003 including Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, Hyundai Group, Hyundai Department Store Group and Hyundai Development Group. Hyundai Elantra comes with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine good for 138 horsepower. Drivers have their choice of either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with the automatic, the Hyundai Elantra delivers ample around-town power but can feel sluggish during highway passing maneuvers, as the transmission waits too long to downshift. Hyundai Elantra car is available in GLS, Limited and GT trim, while the five-door hatchback comes in either GLS or GT. Standard equipment on the GLS includes air conditioning, power windows, mirrors and locks, keyless entry, a center armrest with storage and a 60 by 40 split-folding rear seat. In addition to that, the GLS hatchback includes a sport suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. The Limited adds wood grain trim, leather seating, chrome trim and foglights. GT models provide all of the above features, plus alloy wheels, cruise control, an instrument panel with red blue illumination and trip computer, a six-speaker CD audio system and a rear spoiler. Among the factory options are cruise control and a CD player on GLS models and antilock brakes and a sunroof on all trims. Hyundai Elantra comes in various colors such as black pearl, captiva white, carbon gray, Laguna sand, purple rain, quicksilver, red fire pearl. The standard ABS, Antilock Braking System helps maintain vehicle steering control while braking under slippery road conditions and emergency braking situations under any road conditions, 4-sensor, 4-channel ABS system permit brake force applied independently to each wheel. Front seat active head restraints provide extra protection against whiplash in rear-end collisions, child seat latch system, 3-Point seatbelts for all seating positions, front seatbelt pretensioners, adjustable head restraints for all seating positions, shingle-style low-profile rear seat head restraints for enhanced visibility. In government crash testing, the Hyundai Elantra earned five stars out of five for driver protection in frontal impacts and four stars for the front passenger. In side-impact tests, Hyundai Elantra received five stars for front-occupant protection and four stars for rear-occupant protection.
