The Ford Mustang is an American automobile, originally based on the Ford Falcon compact. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan on March 9, 1964, and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on April 17, 1964, and via all three American television networks on April 19. It was one of the most successful product launch in automotive history. The Mustang sold over one million units in its first 18 months on the market.
The 2006 Ford Mustang is a 2-door, 4-passenger family coupe, sports coupe, convertible, and convertible sports car, available in 10 trims, ranging from the V6 Standard Coupe to the GT Premium Convertible. Upon introduction, the V6 Standard Coupe is equipped with a standard 4.0-liter, V6, 210-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. The GT Premium Convertible is equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 300-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2006 Ford Mustang is a carryover from 2005.

The GT Premium Convertible is equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 300-horsepower engine that achieves 17-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims, and a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 2007 Ford Mustang is a carryover from 2006.
