Cadillac XLR
Cadillac is a brand of luxury automobile, part of General Motors, produced and mostly sold in the United States and Canada; outside of North America, they have been less successful. In the United States, the name became a synonym for high quality, used in such phrases as the Cadillac of clocks. This is less prevalent, though still known, in other English-speaking countries. The XLR is a luxury roadster sold by the Cadillac division of General Motors and is assembled in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is based on the same Y-body platform as the Chevrolet Corvette. The XLR uses the Cadillac Northstar engine rather than the GM LS2 engine found in the Corvette. The XLR also has its own unique styling, interior, and suspension, and has a power-retractable aluminum hardtop. The engine is Cadillac's 4.6 liters Northstar tuned for 320 horsepower, mated as of the 2007 model year to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Cadillac XLR is of 2 sub types namely 2006 and 2007 mock-ups. The Cadillac 2006 has 3 different types of trims namely all 2 door Convertible technology package. The 2006 Cadillac XLR is a 2-door, 2-passenger convertible sports car, available in one trim only, the Convertible. Upon introduction, the XLR is equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 320-horsepower engine that achieves 17 MPG, miles per gallon in the city and 25- miles per gallon on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2006 Cadillac XLR is a carryover from 2005.
