Cadillac STS
Cadillac is a brand of luxury automobile, part of General Motors, produced and mostly sold in the United States and Canada. In the United States, the name became a synonym for high quality, used in such phrases as the Cadillac of clocks. This is less prevalent, though still known, in other English-speaking countries, which are more likely to use Rolls-Royce in such phrases.
The STS is a new addition to the fleet of Cadillac cars. It is the successor to the import fighter Cadillac Seville car. It used the STS name, Seville Touring Sedan on upscale performance-oriented versions from at least 1988. In 1992, Cadillac divided the Seville line into STS and less performance-oriented SLS for Seville Luxury Sedan trim lines. STS’ body style is of Sedan with a seating capacity of 5 people. It has a Northstar 4.4 Liters V-8 32 valve engine with 469 Horse Powers. Its engine has an RPM, Rotation Per Minute of 6,400 and an engine torque of 439 pound per feet. It has a 6 speed automatic transmissions gearbox. The STS has a curb weight of 4,233 pounds.
The STS offers wonderful high-tech features, which are transparent but not very noticeable to the driver. Its features like the Magnetic Ride Control that instantly adjusts its shock-absorber settings according to road conditions and driver input and the excellent StabiliTrak skid-correction system are among few truly astonishing features. The other features like the Keyless Access System that intrude upon the driving experience are also awesome.
Fortunately, the superb STS models are provided in many configurations ranging from a base, V6 engine, rear-wheel drive car with several luxuries and less distractions. It is loaded with 4 Trims and a Sedan door. It has an automatic 3.6 liter V6 engine with a mileage of 18 miles per gallon in city and 27 miles per gallon on highway. All the quibbles melt off when the STS gets up to speed and display its handling capabilities, which are formidable. It would need a racetrack and a finely tuned driver to tell where a 5 Series BMW exceeds the STS's strengths. This car is lightyears removed from the popular image of the wallowing, listing, squealing-tire geezer's Caddy of yore.
